“All for one and one for all.” It’s more than the battle cry of the Three Musketeers, it is how humans are designed to thrive.
Human beings thrive best in small communities (villages or tribes) where each member of the tribe is valued and each provides to the whole and is supported by the others.
Once ‘civilization’ initiated city living we lost the support villages and tribes provided. Competition replaced cooperation. And once that set in fear of lack set in because “all for one and one for all” became “every man for himself”. That was the downturn of human society.
People stopped thriving because they were just trying to survive. Surviving not only the elements, but one another as well.
You can see evidence of this innate human need in phrases like, “it takes a village to raise a child”. As well as in 12-step communities like Alcoholics Anonymous. You also see glimpses of this when disaster strikes a community and everyone bans together to help one another.
In tribes and small villages there were always one or two people who served as healers for the community. People who held space for those who wanted support in healing their wounds. These people were called many things in many different cultures, but thier roles were the same. They provided wisdom and insight into the problems of the tribe or village.
These people helped in raising the children of the tribe/village, providing sage wisdom and gentle guidance. They used herbs to heal. They used Shamanic practices to heal. They used energy to heal. They provided counsel to the leaders. They provided comfort and solace to those on their end of life journeys, as new parents, as caregivers of parents etc.
Whether it is by design, or by consequence, this role has been all but eliminated from ‘civilization’. At the very least they have been diluted, diminished and dismissed to the outer edges of society. You often find these people today in metaphysical shops, spiritualist churches, or online. You also find these people can be the Matriarchs or Patriarchs of the family, however not every family is blessed with these.
Generational trauma, unhealed childhood trauma, addiction, societal indoctrination have all contributed to division amongst families and communities.
Not only does The Village Healer looks to reclaim this necessary role and provide the space, guidance and support so many have been looking for, but it also wants to reclaim villages. The vision is to start off with an online village, then evolve into real life gatherings, and perhaps then a brick and mortar location.
