A most common response to the offer of an End of Life Sacred Attendant

I can’t tell you how often I’ve heard that response from professionals.

I came across this article (see link below) and though it is a VERY long read, it absolutely shines a light on what I’ve been trying to tell others about the demise of hospice and why I am opposed to the movement to get EOLD’s approved by insurances.

While I am unaware that my last hospice did anything like this, I wouldn’t be surprised. The culture was definitely to ‘cut the fat’ and admit any and every patient they could.

If you take the time to read this all the way through (I read it in three sittings to absorb it all), I’d be happy to talk with you about it.

The title of my piece here is written in sarcastic font. Is this what you have hospice for? I don’t think so. This is WHY you need people like me and my colleagues. It is also why I will never get into bed with the devil.
