How To Get Through Recent Emotional Storms

20634261798_657dba9441_oI’ve only flown on an airplane a handful of times in my life and while most of them have faded from memory two stand out. The first one was my trip home from Disney Land bringing back a Minnie Mouse stuffed toy the size of me. The second one I remember was more epiphanic.

I was in my twenties and traveling alone. It was dark, stormy and there was question whether the flight would be cancelled, but in the end we were cleared for take off. It was as dark as night and raining hard. I had a window seat and watched the lights on the runway fly past as we left. I kept watching out that the window as we ascended and something miraculous happened. We ascended through the storm clouds and in seconds the sun was so bright I had to squint and there was no rain.

Below me I could see the entire storm system. It looked like a floor of clouds.

It had never occurred to me before that moment, that the sun would not be affected by the storm. I hadn’t really examined my thought around it before, but I suppose I imagined the clouds going all the way up to the sun (even though now that makes no sense).

There are moments when you realize that concepts of your childhood have overstayed their welcome by limiting your experiences. This was one of those moments for me. Decades later and I am still learning from that realization. It applies to so much more than even I first imagined.

The sun is always shining. It is never not on fire, never not glowing, never not illuminating, never not radiating, never not warming…never not alive. Things like night, storms, clouds, rain etc…are all temporary and capable of changing our experiences, but they are not our truth. The truth is that above the storms, even the worst of them, the sun is still shining and we just need to rise above to see it.

I have met countless individuals recently who are experiencing such emotional turbulence and the one thing they all have in common is not knowing why its happening. These are individuals dedicated to spiritual practices and positive mindset work, so what’s going on?

Many of those currently on spiritual journeys are also energy sensitive (and might not know it) and are picking up/filtering the energy of planet. I don’t think its a coincidence that many of those I am speaking of live in the United States and Canada, picking up on the anxiety and depression caused by the mass conflict in the US.

Is it really coincidence that Hurricane Harvey isn’t even a memory yet while Hurricane Irma hurtles towards our shores, followed by Jose and Katia and now an earthquake?!?! I don’t think so. We (every thing in the Universe and even the other Universes) are all connected. Every person, animal, plant, soil, cloud and star is connected as one, so it stands to reason that our collective energy can affect the weather as well as one another. What could be more symbolic of the emotional storm clouds that the United States has been under for the past year? The division, the anger, the discrimination, the hatred, the intolerance, the inhumanity, the violence – what else could we have manifested but hurricanes and earthquakes…one…after…another?

While this can feel overwhelming as we are pummeled with the relentless surge of depression and anxiety, we need to remember that if ‘they’ (they being those participating in the angst) can affect us, then we can affect ‘them’ too!

Abraham Hicks refers to The Vortex, where the vibrations of our thoughts, feelings and actions contribute in order to create our lives (ok, its really hard to exactly describe that concept!) Others refer to connecting to Source. Still others speak of raising your vibration. That’s all well and good unless you have no idea what that means or how to do it.

This is where the storm metaphor comes in.

The Sun represents Source, The Highest Vibration or The Vortex as you will. It is always there no matter what we can see from our vantage. It is Truth. The storm clouds, thunder, lightening, blackness and even nighttime represent the challenging times in our lives. They are temporary illusions if you will, as they give the appearance of separating us from the sun, but if you raise yourself high enough you find the Truth, that the sun is never blackened out, we are only disconnected from it – and even that is an illusion.

Now, when the storm rolls in we can imagine that the storm will go on forever, or we can remember that the sun is shining above it and we just need to realign ourselves to the truth of what is Permanent rather than fear the temporary illusion of the storm. When we are in the storm we can feel the fear or we can feel the reassurance of knowing that we can depend on the Truth that the sun is still shining and we just need to wait for a break in the clouds.

So, if you are one of the sensitive ones who is feeling the hurricanes of depression and anxiety ‘out of the blue’, try to remember to connect with Source. Rise above the storm clouds of emotion and tap into the Unconditional Love that we are created from and you will begin to feel some relief.

For me it helps to visualize rising through the storm, like I did that day on the plane and plugging myself into the Sun, recognizing it as the Highest Vibration. I imagine myself connected by a chord that feeds me that vibration directly into my being and working on my behalf while I am in the midst of temporary storms.

Be well. Be safe….and if you need me you know where to find me.

Love,
Jade
